關於Pep!
pep! 是一個專注於藝術行政的非牟利藝術機構，致力為本地藝術製造與各界溝通的橋樑。「pep！」為「pepper（胡椒）」的縮寫，讀音清脆爽快，包含活躍、熱情、衝勁的意思，更有著最明顯不過的「調味」功能。pep! 希望透過推動跨文化交流，為本地藝術界帶來新鮮味，不加油添醬，但加胡椒。

What is pep!?

pep! is a non-profit arts events management organization striving to create a platform for communications between various units and individuals inside or outside the field. We take “Pep” as the short form for “pepper”, which connotes meanings like‘lively spirit’,‘passion’,‘energy’, and–as a seasoning–‘taste’.“pep!” would work as a‘seasoning’ to local art scene by encouraging numerous cross-cultural inter-medium and inter-disciplinary dialogues.

Objectives:

1) Developing artists’ ideas and innovations from the conceptual stage into a practical action

2) Bridging local groups of visual arts and performing arts by motivating crossover collaborations between the two fields.

3) Promoting arts to the public and insert interactions at diverse intervals.

4) Combining artistic and commercial pursuit where art could be a self-sustained industry.

Dedication would foster a vivid community where different ideas and sectors can be merged and intimately connected.

What do we do?

We are dedicated in providing administration supports to artists, curators, theatre groups and other cultural units in order to execute a particular event or project. Other than simply collaborating with an individual artist or art group, we endeavor to connect each with other potential partners where the two or more parties can share their insight, philosophy or aesthetic pursuits in the course of creating a meaningful event. By elaborating a unique concept or issue into thematic festivals or programs, we provide audience with multi experience of understanding and responding to the subject. We therefore take part in the arrangement of exhibitions, performance, lectures, roundtable conferences, seminars, workshops, guided tours, site-specific events, etc. based on a conceptual idea given by art talents or intellectuals. We offer supports to all stages of processing each event, from pre-production procedures such as brainstorming ideas, drafting proposals, conducting researches, delivering clerical documents, budget planning, seeking financial supports and sponsorships, consulting expertise, linking up collaboration partners, publishing promotional items, to every technical detail like setting up venues, renting facilities and equipments, sourcing logistics, documentation as well as all aftermath review and further analysis. We work closely with technical groups, contractors, property developers and professionals from various sectors; recruiting of an optimum number of student intern or volunteers, adequate human resource is added to sustain an event with a larger scale.

Who are we?

pep! is formed by a group of young art enthusiasts. They met occasionally in Fotanian: Open Studio 2007 as the organizing committee members. These art lovers came from various education institutes with majors in humanities, sociology, visual arts and communication studies. With 2 to 5 years of freelance working experience in government and private sectors in the arts and cultural field such as stage management, stage photography, publication of art magazines, graphic design, cultural research, exhibition and art events coordination, each individual has shown distinctive capability in the above specializations. There are five chief committee members in pep! with different focusing areas in the team, including: CHENG Wai-sum, Haze (execution and administration); WU Ka-yan, Jamie (communciations); FONG Wan-chi, Vangi (art and design); and TONG Thompson (photography). With passion and acquaintance in visual and performing arts, contemporary culture and local events, all pep! contributors have strong dedication in nurturing local art scene by supporting talented and under-exposed creative groups as well as inventing more innovative ideas to the community.
